Georgia GOP Counties Competition

ATLANTA, GEORGIA (PR) - Contests in local, state and federal elections are heating up, and there's no doubt that County Republican Parties will be the MVPs in our candidates' campaigns.  The Community Service Committee of the Georgia Republican Party is encouraging county parties to participate in another type of contest: earning the title of Most Generous County Republican Party in Georgia.

The Community Service Committee has been hard at work bringing Ronald Reagan's message of Republican optimism to our friends and neighbors in Georgia.  For this quarter's community service project, we are assisting the Bowen Story Fund.  The Fund, started by "Bo" Story's parents, honors his memory by providing much-needed food, shelter, transportation and other assistance to families who travel more than 50 miles from home to receive treatment at Children's Healthcare in Atlanta. For more information about the Bowen Story Fund, click HERE.

Since all families' needs are different, the Fund often provides gift cards for particular items - Atlanta restaurants, grocery stores, pharmacies and gas stations.  To enhance participation, there will be a friendly competition between the county parties for contributing the highest amount of gift cards.

The competition will run from May 1-June 15, 2014.  The gift cards must be returned no later than June 18, 2014.

Participating county parties will be placed into one of four categories based on county population (under 80,000, 80,000-200,000, 200,001-300,000, over 300,000). The winning county party in each category will receive recognition from the State Party.  The individual winner in each category will receive two tickets to the Fall Victory Dinner and the private reception beforehand, photos with elected officials and special recognition both in the dinner program and at the dinner.

The gift cards should be in the amounts of $10-$25 and from vendors in the area of Children's Healthcare in Atlanta.  Examples include restaurants like Chili's, McDonalds, Zaxby's, Subway, etc; drugstores such as Walgreens and CVS; grocery stores, including Publix and Kroger; big box stores such as Wal-Mart and Target; and gas stations including Shell, RaceTrac and Quick Trip.

We hope that every county GOP will participate and help make life a little easier for our neighbors who have sick children, are far from home and could really use a break.
