Surge of Minors Alone Seeking Help in Georgia


Latin American Association (LAA) has seen a rise in unaccompanied immigrants under 18 seeking legal representation

ATLANTA, GA (PR) - The United States has seen a recent surge in the number of minors crossing the Mexico-U.S. border without their parents. Though border states such as Texas and Arizona have been on the front lines of this new wave of immigration, Georgia, which is one of the top destinations for Hispanic immigrants, is also seeing a rise in the number of undocumented immigrants under 18 without a parent or legal guardian.

Augusta’s unemployment rate rises to 7.0 percent


ATLANTA, GA (PR) - The Georgia Department of Labor announced today that Metro Augusta’s unemployment rate increased to 7.0 percent in May, up seven-tenths of a percentage point from 6.3 percent in April. The rate was 8.0 percent in May a year ago.

Prediabetes Similar Rate for Most Americans

ATLANTA, GA (PR) - More than 29 million people in the United States have diabetes, up from the previous estimate of 26 million in 2010, according to a report released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  One in four people with diabetes doesn’t know he or she has it.

Donation to Paine College by Ministers

Salazar Named to National Board of Medical Examiners

AUGUSTA, GA (PR) – Dr. William H. Salazar, internist and psychiatrist at the Medical College of Georgia at Georgia Regents University, has been appointed to the new National Board of Medical Examiners Communications Task Force.
