AUGUSTA, GA (Al Dallas) - Today the City of Augusta and Hull Storey Gibson Companies kicked off the redevelopment of Windsor Square shopping center by announcing the additions of Chick-fil-A and Krispy Kreme as part of a revitalization plan to create a new first class retail and restaurant destination for South Augusta.

AUGUSTA, GA (Kelly Jasper) – Two young musicians, including a student and recent alum of the Department of Music at Georgia Regents University, were honored in recent composition contests.


William Dukes, a senior music major at GRU, was a winner in the Georgia Music Educators Association Composition Contest in November. His piece, “Saxophone Quartet in F minor,” will be performed at the Georgia Music Educators Association Conference in Savannah in January.

Hephzibah High Lockdown and More


UPDATE: Richmond County Investigators are seeking the public’s assistance in locating Lavarius Kentrez Beasley (Photo Attached) in relation to the Armed Robbery that occurred on 11/17/2013 in the Hephzibah High School parking lot.


Anyone with information regarding Beasley’s whereabouts is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 706-821-1080.  Callers may remain anonymous.


The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office responded to 5178 Henderson Road, Hephzibah GA 30815 in reference to a Criminal Attempt  Burglary in progress.  Upon arrival it was learned that the suspects (3 B/Ms) had left the scene travelling in a blue in color Toyota Corolla. Responding deputies in the area spotted the vehicle and a pursuit ensued.

Robbing an Elder Neighbor for Drug

On Wednesday 11/13/2013 at approximately 11:58 PM the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office responded to 3314 Blanchard Road, Augusta GA 30906 in reference to a robbery of the resident, 78yoa W/F Janice Donaldson.  

Upon officer’s arrival it was learned that earlier during the day Latasha Rouse (B/F, 34yoa, of 2515 Georgetown Drive) an acquaintance of Donaldson’s from the neighborhood,  came by Donaldson’s residence to borrow money to pay Rouse’ s Georgia Power Bill.

Andorra Drive Deadly Incident

On 11/11/2013 at 6:39 PM the Richmond County Sheriff's Office responded to 2560 Andorra Drive in reference to shots being fired and one person, Delarrion Smith (B/M, 18YOA, 4126 S. Allendale Court, Hephzibah GA), being down. Upon arrival at the scene officers located Delarrion Smith with a gunshot wound to the chest. Delarrion Smith was transported to GRU (Georgia Regents University) for medical treatment where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. 

Wycliffe Gordon to be Presented with Visiting Professorship

AUGUSTA, GA (Kelly Jasper) – Renowned jazz trombonist and international recording artist, composer, and arranger Wycliffe Gordon will be presented with a visiting professorship in the Department of Music at Georgia Regents University when he takes the stage with the GRU Jazz Ensemble on Tuesday.

Augusta, the Digital City

AUGUSTA, GA (AL DALLAS) - For the fourth year in a row, the City of Augusta’s Information Technology Department ranked among the top digital city governments as announced by e.Republic’s Center for Digital Government and Digital Communities Program. Ten finalists were chosen in four separate population categories. 

The Information Technology Department ranked #2 in the mid-sized category for cities with a population between 125,000 to 249,999. Augusta is the only State of Georgia municipality to be recognized in this competition.

Funds to Expand Access to Healthcare

Funding supports new primary care sites in 236 communities to serve more than 1.25 million additional patients.

The U.S. Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced $150 million in awards under the Affordable Care Act to support 236 new health center sites across the country. These investments will help care for approximately 1.25 million additional patients.

GA Women protest at the GOP headquarters

Atlanta, GA - On Thursday November 7th, dozens of women and supporters are joining together
in protest outside the headquarters of the Republican Party of Georgia, to demand that the
Republican Party stands on the right side of history, and support fair comprehensive immigration

Women and children make up ¾ of all immigrants, and are disproportionately
