(Atlanta, GA) - Today State Senator Jason Carter announced his intentions to run for Governor of Georgia. Following his announcement, the Georgia Republican Party issued the following statements:
"Under Republican leadership, Georgia has stepped out of the shadows to quickly become the epicenter of economic development and job growth in the South. By implementing commonsense, conservative principles, we have lowered taxes, balanced the budget, and stockpiled reserves for a rainy day. And by staying true to our Georgia values, we have protected life and preserved our fundamental rights.
"In just ten short years, Georgia Republicans have accomplished much for the betterment of the Peach State. But there is still more work to be done. Now is not the time for handpicked, Atlanta liberals and the failed policies of the Democratic Party. We must continue to move Georgia forward and it's abundantly clear that out-of-touch progressives like Michelle Nunn and Senator Jason Carter are incapable of doing that."
