WASHINGTON, DC (PR) – After weeks of repeated attacks from anti-immigrant leaders and multiple votes in the House and Senate to repeal the President’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and Deferred Action for Parents of Americans (DAPA) programs, immigrant families, faith, labor, small business, and elected officials are holding more than 50 “Ready for DACA” and “Ready for DAPA” events over the Mid-Winter congressional recess targeting Members of Congress while they’re home in their districts.
In addition, immigrant rights groups will do massive outreach to immigrant families and workers to inform and engage the community about the DACA expansion and new DAPA program. The program is set to begin on February 18 for immigrant youth to sign up and later in May for the parents of U.S. born children.
As we await the court decision on the Texas v. United States lawsuit, where 26 states are suing the federal government for the President’s immigration action, the immigrant rights movement remains confident that despite the political attacks by anti-immigrant politicians, in the end, millions of immigrant workers will come forward, register, and have the chance to live, work, and stay in the United States with their families.
