AUGUSTA, GA - Responding to criticism that he just wants people in jail, attorney Freddie Sanders clarified his position during a forum stating that those people who should be out of prison will be. Sanders, a republican, is facing Richard Roundtree, a democrat, in the November 6 elections for Richmond County Sheriff Office.
Roundtree approach will be more proactive preventing crimes while Sanders was vocal letting voters to know that he will luck up everybody having trouble with the law and order. At a recent forum he said that he will let go those offenders with chance to improve in their lives. There will be no third chance though, he pointed out.
The biggest doubt is if either Roundtree or Sanders could do much to keep independence from the federal government influence and the privatization of the prison system. Also in Georgia the General Assembly has given unelected citizens panels power over immigration and utilizing local law enforcement as immigration agents.
