GALEO's Twelve Year History

ATLANTA, GA (PR) - Members of GALEO's Board of Directors are often tapped for Presidential and Gubernatorial Appointments and former member, Judge Dax Lopez, is just the latest person to have served on GALEO's Board of Directors to be one of them. On July 30, 2015, President Obama nominated Judge Lopez to fill a judicial vacancy on the Federal District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.

In 2006, then President George W. Bush nominated Luis Aguilar to serve as a commissioner on the Securities and Exchange Commission. Then, he was reappointed to the Securities and Exchange Commission by President Obama.

In GALEO's twelve year history, several other current or former members of its board of directors have also been tapped for gubernatorial appointments including:

Tony DelCampo, former DeKalb State Court Judge, appointed by Governor Roy Barnes.

Dax Lopez, appointed to the State Court of DeKalb by Governor Sonny Perdue and won re-election in DeKalb County.

Rocio Woody, appointed to the Georgia Department of Corrections by Governor Nathan Deal.

In addition, Mayor Kasim Reed of the City of Atlanta tapped former GALEO Board member and former GALEO Vice-Chair, Charles Kuck, to head up the City of Atlanta's Welcoming Atlanta initiative.

Furthermore, several elected officials, both local and legislative from both sides of the aisle, have served on the GALEO Board. This is just a small sample of the depth and quality of the individuals who have served on GALEO's board of directors over the years.

GALEO has always sought the most qualified and distinguished individuals to serve on its board of directors as evidenced by appointments by both Republican and Democratic administrations referenced above.
