AUGUSTA, GA (Christen Carter) – Georgia Regents University and Health System contributed more than $400,000 in support of local community organizations, events, and fundraisers in Fiscal Year 2014.
“We strive to invest in organizations and events that align with our enterprise mission,” said Cedric Johnson, Director of Community Affairs at GRU. “We want to find ways to enhance the culture and the quality of life for the citizens of Augusta through community partnership and collaboration.”
GRU’s mission is to provide leadership and excellence in teaching, discovery, clinical care, and service.
In addition, GRHealth’s mission is leading Georgia and the world to better health by providing excellence in biomedical education, discovery, and service. According to a Georgia Hospital Association study released in August, the health system provided nearly $56 million in uncompensated care in 2011.
Funds were disbursed to organizations with a focus in the arts, education, health care, or community. Recipients include:

“Our hope is that these funds will be used to continue to address the unmet needs in our community and deliver on our continued commitment to serve those in our own backyard,” Johnson added.
