Construction Cost of Nuclear Proportions

ATLANTA, GA (PR) - Georgia WAND will be attending the hearing for the 12th Vogtle Construction Monitoring Report and sharing public comments. Since just the last Vogtle Construction Monitoring Report, projected project construction costs have increased by $246 million. It is currently 39 months behind schedule. These costs, like the aforementioned $246 million, are paid by us, the ratepayers. Could you think of a better use of $246 million dollars?

Confederate Powder Works Chimney

AUGUSTA, GA - The Augusta Canal Authority was granted title to the Confederate Powder Works Chimney by the City of Augusta in July 2010. Money raised by the Sons of Confederate Veterans and Augusta SPLOST funding  covered the costs. Repairs to the 151-year old Confederate Powder Works  Chimney wrapped up in March, 2010. The Augusta Canal Authority hired International Chimney Corporation, a New York-based firm that specializes in historic restoration, to perform the work.
