I Was Arrested for Learning a Foreign Language

Today, I Have Some Closure

By Nick George - Five years ago, the Philadelphia police thought that carrying Arabic-language flashcards was enough to warrant the arrest of an innocent traveler. A settlement reached today in a lawsuit I brought against the police department makes it clear that it is not.

Travelling by plane can be a long and grueling process under the best of circumstances. This makes it a good time for monotonous tasks, like trying to iron out some vocab for a language you're learning at college.

By Gregg Laskoski - With WTI crude oil dipping below $50 per barrel and retail gasoline prices slipping lower and lower... it would be easy to enjoy the euphoria of pump prices more than $1 lower than last year if only politicians weren't so determined to take more money out of our pockets.

2015 New Year's Revolution

Bills to be considered in 2015 in Georgia

By Rich Pellegrino - The Atlanta area, where I reside, or Ferguson, New York, you name it... are all just a microcosm of government and government agencies who are supposed to be public servants—serving all of the public equally and equitably-- gone wild, everywhere in this country, according to the whims of everyone (business interests, elected reps, non-profit groups, advocacy groups—including mine), resulting in a state of well-disguised anarchy in which there is really no longer an adequate system of governance that represents the people’s will or cares for anyone but the elite.
