Refugees Shouldn’t Be in Detention Centers
WASHINGTON, DC (PR) – The U.S. Commission on Civil Rights today released its annual report to the President and Congress examining the civil rights and due process conditions at immigration detention facilities, as well as the conditions of family detainees. In the Statutory Enforcement Report: The State of Civil Rights at Immigration Detention Facilities, the Commission found that some detention centers and contracted facilities are not fully complying with detention standards regarding medical care, legal information and other basic standards of treatment.

Arrest raises troubling questions about privacy and human rights
WASHINGTON, DC (PR) — Today, the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health (NLIRH) responded to news of the arrest of Blanca Borrego, a Latina mom and undocumented woman, in Northeast Women's Healthcare clinic in Atascocita, Texas. Borrego had been sitting in the waiting room for nearly two hours when staff called her into an exam room, where she was met by Harris County Sheriff’s deputies, who arrested her for allegedly using a false ID and handcuffed her in front of her daughters who now fear their mother's deportation and their family torn apart.

New Precinct Information Cards for Voters
AUGUSTA, GA (PR) - The Richmond County Board of Elections is mailing out new Precinct Information Cards to voters in Richmond County whose polling location has changed. The polling location changes will affect all voters who formerly voted at the VFW Post 649 located at 2430 Windsor Spring Road and all voters who formerly voted at the Crossroad Fellowship Church located at 3875 Wrightsboro Road. All changes will take effect immediately and for the upcoming November 3, 2015 Special Election in Augusta-Richmond County.

Preventing Labor Day Fatalities
