2012 NCAA Division II Soccer Championship

AUGUSTA, GA ( Karyn C. Nixon) – More than 275 soccer players, coaches, school administrators and NCAA officials, from New York,  California, Canada, Florida and parts in-between will travel to the CSRA this week to compete in the 2012 NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Soccer Championships. The championships will be played at Blanchard Woods Park in Evans, Georgia on November 29 (semifinals) and December 1 (finals).  

  

Fitch Affirms AA Bond Rating for Augusta

Gov. Deal Identity Crisis

Governor Nathan Deal not implementing the Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare) is opening Georgia state controlled Medicaid to the federal government to do whatever its pleases. That inaction of the state government will allow intrusion of the Feds so hard fought by Republicans governments in more than twenty states. It is seems Gov. Deal wants independence from the Feds but not so. Republican obstructionists blame the Obama administration for almost everything is wrong in the country, then leave open to his administration to intervene on those things they want to repeal. Crisis of identity or just plain foolishness. Why not repealing SB 31?

Outsourcing Augusta Government to the DDA?

"The Mission of the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) of Augusta is to improve the economy of Augusta-Richmond County by coordinating an aggressive public/private program to promote the re-development and growth of downtown Augusta". According to Margaret Woodard, the Executive Director, the DDA is the "ears and eyes" of Augusta-Richmond County, almost a mega government inside the government, including law enforcement. Some merchants in downtown start firing back against this monster.

Will Georgia Catch Up With The Future?

1) A diverse swath and coalition of Americans came together to re-elect President Obama...a great example of unity in diversity...representing the true "exceptionalism" of America. (As the President said in his victory speech: "our true wealth is our incredible diversity".)  And Georgia is not far behind with the slimmest margin of loss, only 4%, of the states the President didn’t win, except for NC.

Expensive "Nannies" for Migra in South Carolina

The 10 members of the special unit created to enforce immigration in South Carolina are acting as baby-sitters of ICE agents. Only four counties have 287g agreement with Immigration and Custom Enforcement (ICE) and the unit is not trained to do immigration activities. The unit will cost taxpayers in South Carolina $1.3 millions per year. A hearing about blocked key provisions of the law will take place Tuesday in Charleston. It is not expected a final ruling.

China bashing and US Elections 2012

SAN FRANCISCO (Peter Schurmann, NAM) – Barack Obama’s victory, the numbers show, is in large measure thanks to the support he received from, among others, Hispanics, Blacks, and women voters.

Less credited, however, are Asian Americans, who voted 72 percent in favor of the president. While their numbers remain small, at just 5.8 percent of the population, they are one of the fastest growing segments of American society, according to a recent Pew study, having surpassed Hispanics as the largest group of new immigrants. They are also highly educated, with nealry 50 percent of those 25 and older holding at least a bachelor's degree.

Latino Vote Will Hit High Watermark in Georgia

Latinos in Georgia are motivated to go vote this year.  GALEO and many Georgia Latino Vote 2012 volunteers across the entire state took the pledge to register new voters, volunteered countless hours at festivals, canvassing events and phone banking to drive Latino voter participation in Georgia further.  The Latino vote will likely hit a high watermark in Georgia.

Voter ID, Immigration, E-Verify and Identity Theft in SC

Gov. Nikki Haley has signed an executive order directing all of her Cabinet agencies to designate someone to cooperate with state Inspector General Patrick Maley on a new effort to improve the state's cyber-security. She's stated, "State government's fragmented approach to IT security makes South Carolina vulnerable to serious cyber and information breaches."

No Chance for Voter Fraud in SC

Officials in South Carolina are confident that the few voting fraud in the past will remain the same, thanks to the tough Voter ID law in place for the November 6 elections. The more of 3 millions Social Security numbers hacked presumably in August probably will not have any impact in the results. SC also have the tougher immigration law in the land with a especial unit going after workers with no permit to work. No "illegals" will have access to the polls.
